<p>A105 Gate Valve is normally OS&amp;Y Gate Valve.</p>

<p>OS&amp;Y means “outside stem and yoke” or &#8220;outside screw and yoke&#8221;. OS&amp;Y gate valves operate by opening and closing via a gate, which lowers into or rises out of the valve. Raising the gate allows water to flow through the valve while lowering the gate cuts off the water flowing through the valve.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How does an A105 Gate Valve Work?</h2>



<p>A105 Gate valves are designed for fully open or fully closed service. They are installed in pipelines as isolating valves, and should not be used as a control or regulating valves. Operation of a gate valve is performed either clockwise to close (CTC) or clockwise to open (CTO) rotating motion of the stem. When operating the valve stem, the gate moves up or downwards on the threaded part of the stem.</p>



<p>Gate valves are often used when minimum pressure loss and a free bore is needed. When fully open, a typical gate valve has no obstruction in the flow path resulting in a very low-pressure loss, and this design makes it possible to use a pipe-cleaning pig. A gate valve is a multiturn valve meaning that the operation of the valve is done by means of a threaded stem. As the valve has to turn multiple times to go from the open to the closed position, the slow operation also prevents water hammer effects.</p>



<p>A105 gate valves are widely used for all types of applications and are suitable for both above-ground and underground installation.</p>

<p>ASTM A105 Valves are made up of a special chemical composition that can be used to make valves of ASME B16.34 and B16.10 face-to-face dimensions. The material has carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium in it. The ASTM A105 Gate Valves are forged material-made valves. They have excellent strength, wear and tear, and higher mechanical properties. There are different types of valves in this carbon steel material based on its structure and functions. The ASTM a105 carbon steel Swing Check Valves are structurally swinging valves. These use a swing to control the flow. The swing valves are also checked valves by functional type. They make sure that the fluid flows only in one direction.</p>

<p>ASTM A105 is the standard specification covering forged carbon steel piping components for ambient- and higher-temperature service in pressure systems. It can be readily manufactured to flanges, fittings, valves, and other piping components in accordance with dimensional standards such as MSS, ASME, API, EN/BS, DIN, NOSOK specifications, etc. A105 forgings are limited to a maximum weight of 4540 kg [10000 lb]. As stated in our quality manual, welding repair of defects in ASTM A105 flanges or fittings is absolutely prohibited by Metals-Piping(although it is permissible by the standard).</p>

<p><b>Principle</b><b>:</b><b> </b></p>
<p>The pressure seal gate valves are designed in accordance with API600 and ASME B16.34 for service of high temperature and high pressure and are widely used in fossil fuel power plant. Compared with bolted bonnet joint valves, it provides absolute reliable sealing of the bonnet joint, so that the pressure seal valves are more compact and rigid as well as maintenance cost-effective at high temperature and high pressure service.</p>
<p>This kind of gate valve is not only characterized as simple structure and reliable usage, but also able to create slight flexible deformation to compensate the deviation of the sealing face angle generated during processing, thus improving the process performance. In addition, at seat and gate disc seal surface are over-lay with iron-base alloy or Co-base alloy or carbide alloy for long duration.</p>

<p><strong>Principle</strong><strong>:</strong><strong> </strong></p>
<p>Double block and bleed capability and automatic relief of excess body pressure are a standard feature of this seat design. The smooth, continuous bore minimizes turbulence within the valve and when in the open position it produces a pressure drop equivalent to a portion of pipe of the same length and diameter. The seat faces are outside the flow stream and therefore protected from the erosive action of the flow. Pigs and scrapers can be run through the valve without damage.</p>

<p><b>Principle</b><b>:</b><b> </b><b></b></p>
<p>Gear operated Gate valves serve as efficient on-off valves with flow in either direction. In such a design, a wedge slides cross a general passageway in order to control fluid flow (like a sliding gate-hence, the name). One of the most significant characteristics of this type of gear operated valves is its straight-through, unobstructed passageway when set in the full open” position. This is made possible by the wedge lifting entirely out of the passageway. As a result, industrial gate valves are characterized by a minimum of turbulence and pressure drop in operation.</p>
<p>While gear operated gate valves are good for applications requiring these two factors, they are not recommended for installations in which throttling would be a function. They are designed for on/off service.</p>
<p>Gear operated gate valves feature a flexible wedge unless otherwise specified by the customer. The flexible wedge shifts along the body of the valve during opening and closing, being held in position by a guide slot that minimizes the friction between body seat and wedge. This design is especially suited to compensate slight thermal deformations produced by the pipe of the valve itself safeguarding a better sealing between body and wedge seats.</p>

<p>The wiper between the valve body and bonnet of the knife gate valve prevents solid particles from entering the bonnet. The valve body cavity, seat configuration, and slant gate design provide features to impede the entry of thick media (e.g. pulp, slurry) or solid media (e.g. granules and powders).</p>
<p>Knife gate valve gate and seat are always in close contact with the sealed valve, and the gate with a guide hole with the same conduit gate valve, the gate has a diameter size of a round hole, through the gate opening and closing so that the round hole on the gate and the through diameter to do a complete disengagement and coincide with the action.
