<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-motorized-ball-valve">What is Motorized Ball Valve?</h2>




Also known as actuated ball valves, these have a motor that can handle high flow rates and pressures. All operate on electricity to automatically start and stop the flow. Valves can be wired as normally closed unless actuated or normally open unless actuated. They don’t require a minimum pressure drop between the inlet and outlet for operation.





The actuator is directly mounted to the valve body to minimize movement and reduce wear. A visual flow indicator on the top of the actuator shows whether the valve is open or closed. The manual override allows you to operate the valve during power outages.





Motorized ball valves control the flow of a media, liquid, or gas within an automated process control system without the need for a pneumatic air supply. Also known as motorized ball valves, they are common in food service equipment, manufacturing facilities, and irrigation systems.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-an-motorized-ball-valve">What is an Motorized ball valve?</h2>



<p>The working of an motorized ball valve is similar to its manual counterpart but in this valve, an electric actuator is mounted instead of a lever to drive the stem (which is connected to the ball) which in turn, rotates the ball to provide the desired operation. As the electric actuator receives a signal from remote control location depending on its position it will rotate to start or stop the flow of fluid through the ball valve.</p>



<p>An motorized ball valve can be designed to change positions based on sensor readings. A sensor can detect and report changes in temperature or pressure. The motorized ball valve is triggered when the sensor reaches a predetermined point set by machine management staff. This could perform important functions, such as keeping more process fluid from reaching an area that is already full. When the sensor detects that the area is available for more fluid, it activates the motorized ball valve, which changes position to allow process fluid to reach that location.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How does an Motorized ball valve work?</h2>



<p>Motorized ball valves is mainly composed of two parts, namely electric actuator and valve. After certain installation and debugging, the switch of the equipment can be adjusted and controlled normally. The motorized ball valves mainly relies on the motor to drive and execute the operation, the size of the opening can also be adjusted according to the actual situation, so as to control the flow of equipment intermediary, is a very humane operating system.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-are-motorized-ball-valves-used-for">What are Motorized ball valves used for?</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">On/Off Control</h3>



<p>Motorized ball valves can be switched from open to fully closed without any stops at any position in between. Every time the actuated ball valve finishes the cycle of opening and closing, the electric motor will switch off through internal cams, which strikes the limit switches.</p>



<p>For instance, when the electric motor receives a signal of closing the motorized ball valve, the motor is energized, rotating in order to close the ball valves. Subsequently, the limit switches travel on the cam as the internal cam rotates on the shaft until the lobe makes the switch to stop the electric motor, breaking the circuit.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Positioning Control</h3>



<p>Another type of application requires the motorized ball valves to open or close partially, detecting and responding to the various conditions of water flows. In this case, the goal can be achieved through the incorporation of a digital position sensor.</p>



<p>Depending on the special flow requirements, the external control command signal will be created. This input signal will be compared by the actuator of the motorized ball valves consistently to the actual position through the output feedback element. Subsequently, the actuated ball valves will be driven to balance the commands and reach the required position. A signal of approximately 4mA or 0V is typically used to close the motorized ball valves.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Applications of Motorized ball valves</h2>



<p>Motorized ball valves introduce into the systems to control valve opening and closing. To measure flow, they are often equipped with gauge monitors or flow meters. Industrial processes, manufacturing factories, chemical handling, food, and beverage equipment, mining operations, power plants, and the energy sector uses actuated ball valves. They’re also used in wastewater treatment, municipal treatment centres, clean water generation, aquariums, aquatics and animal care, chemical production, metals and plating operations, and chemical synthesis.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-features-of-motorized-ball-valves">Features of Motorized ball valves:</h2>

<li>When medium passes through the valve, the pressure in valve body may possibly push the stem out, or when the valve in repair, if there is pressure in the middle cavity, the stem or medium seems to easily fly out upon disassembling the valve, which can cause injuries to human beings. To prevent these possibilities, a dummy club is placed at the lower part of the stem. In this way, even if there is fire, packing and thrust bearing are burned or packing is damaged due to other causes, the pressure of medium in valve body will make the dummy club of valve stem in close contact with the upper seal face of valve body, thus to prevent medium leaking out from the damaged packing position;</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How does an Electrical Ball Valve work?</h2>



<p>Generally, electric ball valves convert the electrical energy into rotary force using the electric motor thus turning ball valves. It is the most efficient mode of controlling valves due to the clean electric energy and quiet mode of turning valves.</p>



<p>To understand it better, here is how the electric ball valve works.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step One: Powering Up the System</h3>



<p>First, you will switch on the electric ball valves to allow the proper flow of electric current through the system. Electric current will power the electric motor which will generate a torque transmitted by a shaft connected to the valve stem.</p>



<p>You will realize that the ball valve begins to rotate due to action from the shaft and the electric motor. The amount of power that you need to control the operations of the electric ball valve will vary accordingly.</p>



<p>You may need 12V, 24V, and 48V of direct current to help in controlling the electric ball valve. On the other hand, you may also use 24V, 48V, 120V, 130V, and 240V of alternating current to control the valve.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step Two: Controlling the Torque</h3>



<p>As the power flow through the motor, you can control the force that the motor will produce to rotate the ball valve. It has a system of different gears which help in controlling the shaft thus producing different levels of force.</p>



<p>You can decide on the gear that will produce the best of forces that can control the electric ball valve accordingly. The speed at which the electric ball valve will operate is inversely proportional to the torque f the electric ball valve.</p>
