<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-motorized-ball-valve">What is Motorized Ball Valve?</h2>




Also known as actuated ball valves, these have a motor that can handle high flow rates and pressures. All operate on electricity to automatically start and stop the flow. Valves can be wired as normally closed unless actuated or normally open unless actuated. They don’t require a minimum pressure drop between the inlet and outlet for operation.





The actuator is directly mounted to the valve body to minimize movement and reduce wear. A visual flow indicator on the top of the actuator shows whether the valve is open or closed. The manual override allows you to operate the valve during power outages.





Motorized ball valves control the flow of a media, liquid, or gas within an automated process control system without the need for a pneumatic air supply. Also known as motorized ball valves, they are common in food service equipment, manufacturing facilities, and irrigation systems.

Maintain and repair these valves without unthreading pipe connections. They have a three-piece bolted body that disassembles inline for easy access to internal components. All operate on electricity to automatically start and stop the flow. Valves don&#8217;t require a minimum pressure drop between the inlet and the outlet for operation. All can be wired as normally closed unless actuated or normally open unless actuated. <p><b>Principle</b><b>:</b><b> </b></p>
<p>The pressure seal gate valves are designed in accordance with API600 and ASME B16.34 for service of high temperature and high pressure and are widely used in fossil fuel power plant. Compared with bolted bonnet joint valves, it provides absolute reliable sealing of the bonnet joint, so that the pressure seal valves are more compact and rigid as well as maintenance cost-effective at high temperature and high pressure service.</p>
<p>This kind of gate valve is not only characterized as simple structure and reliable usage, but also able to create slight flexible deformation to compensate the deviation of the sealing face angle generated during processing, thus improving the process performance. In addition, at seat and gate disc seal surface are over-lay with iron-base alloy or Co-base alloy or carbide alloy for long duration.</p>

<p>When the pressure difference control range is above, the valve tank is completely compressed, the cross-flow area is only the minimum design channel, and the flow rate changes with the pressure difference. When the pressure difference is within the control range, the valve tank moves with the pressure difference, thus changing the flow area and keeping the flow at the set value. Under the pressure differential control range, the valve is fully extended to reveal the maximum overcurrent area, and the flow rate changes with the pressure difference.</p>

<p>PICV valve keeps ∆P constant through the spring force. The pressure channel inside the valve body will adjust the pressure P1 and P2 at both ends of the structure, causing the upper and lower ends of the diaphragm respectively. The balance state P1=P2+P spring will be maintained through the action of spring force. If P1 increases, the force acting on the lower part of the diaphragm increases correspondingly, and the diaphragm moves upward, reducing the pressure difference control structure space, and P2 increases accordingly to reach a new balance. And vice versa; And PICV valve adjust the flow rate by adjusting the disc to change the Kv value.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How does a Motorized Butterfly Valve work?</h2>



<p>A motorized butterfly valve operates by changing the position of a round disc that is located within a pipeline. The disc is the size of the pipe circumference, which allows it to create a reliable seal during instances when it is necessary to restrict or stop the flow of process media. Motorized butterfly valves are available in a variety of sizes, so any factory will be able to order one that specifically fits and operates within their pipelines. The most common ranges of sizes for butterfly valves and their discs are between a couple of inches and a couple of feet, although larger industrial applications of this particular valve may span quite a bit larger than those typical ranges.</p>



<p>When a motorized butterfly valve disc is in the closed position, the pipeline is completely blocked and flow is stopped. The disc for the valve is attached to the valve shaft, which is then controlled by a motor. When this motor moves the valve to the open position, the disc is parallel to the pipeline and liquids are able to flow past the disc on either side. There is still a drop in flow volume because the disc itself is still present within the pipeline. However, flow is permitted to pass. If flow needs to be throttled, controlled, or regulated for volume as production needs to change, the motor can turn the disc to a position where it is partially open. If a changing amount of process media volume flow is needed for production, the motorized butterfly valve can adjust during the process to supply appropriate amounts of liquid.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How does an Electric Butterfly Valve work?</h2>



<p>A butterfly valve is a valve used for flow regulation in large pipe diameters in which the disc takes the form of a disk. The operation is similar to that of a ball valve. A plate or disc is positioned in the center of the pipe. The disc has a rod passing through it that is connected to an actuator on the outside of the valve. Rotating the actuator turns the disc either parallel or perpendicular to the flow. Unlike a ball valve, the disc is always present within the flow, therefore a pressure drop is always induced in the flow, regardless of valve position.</p>



<p>A butterfly valve actuator controls the flow of gas or liquid by means of a disk, which turns on a diametrical axis inside a pipe or by two semicircular plates hinged on a common spindle, which permits flow in only one direction. These actuated butterfly valves offer a rotary stem movement of 90 degrees or less, in a compact design. Unlike ball valves, butterfly valves do not have any pockets in which fluids may become trapped when the valve is closed.</p>

<p>The working of an motorized ball valve is similar to its manual counterpart but in this valve, an electric actuator is mounted instead of a lever to drive the stem (which is connected to the ball) which in turn, rotates the ball to provide the desired operation. As the electric actuator receives a signal from remote control location depending on its position it will rotate to start or stop the flow of fluid through the ball valve.</p>



<p>An motorized ball valve can be designed to change positions based on sensor readings. A sensor can detect and report changes in temperature or pressure. The motorized ball valve is triggered when the sensor reaches a predetermined point set by machine management staff. This could perform important functions, such as keeping more process fluid from reaching an area that is already full. When the sensor detects that the area is available for more fluid, it activates the motorized ball valve, which changes position to allow process fluid to reach that location.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How does an Motorized ball valve work?</h2>



<p>Motorized ball valves is mainly composed of two parts, namely electric actuator and valve. After certain installation and debugging, the switch of the equipment can be adjusted and controlled normally. <p>Motorized ball valves can be switched from open to fully closed without any stops at any position in between. Every time the actuated ball valve finishes the cycle of opening and closing, the electric motor will switch off through internal cams, which strikes the limit switches.</p>



<p>For instance, when the electric motor receives a signal of closing the motorized ball valve, the motor is energized, rotating in order to close the ball valves. Subsequently, the limit switches travel on the cam as the internal cam rotates on the shaft until the lobe makes the switch to stop the electric motor, breaking the circuit.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Positioning Control</h3>



<p>Another type of application requires the motorized ball valves to open or close partially, detecting and responding to the various conditions of water flows. In this case, the goal can be achieved through the incorporation of a digital position sensor.</p>



<p>Depending on the special flow requirements, the external control command signal will be created. This input signal will be compared by the actuator of the motorized ball valves consistently to the actual position through the output feedback element. Subsequently, the actuated ball valves will be driven to balance the commands and reach the required position. A signal of approximately 4mA or 0V is typically used to close the motorized ball valves.</p>

<p>Motorized ball valves introduce into the systems to control valve opening and closing. To measure flow, they are often equipped with gauge monitors or flow meters. Industrial processes, manufacturing factories, chemical handling, food, and beverage equipment, mining operations, power plants, and the energy sector uses actuated ball valves. They’re also used in wastewater treatment, municipal treatment centres, clean water generation, aquariums, aquatics and animal care, chemical production, metals and plating operations, and chemical synthesis.</p>

<li>When medium passes through the valve, the pressure in valve body may possibly push the stem out, or when the valve in repair, if there is pressure in the middle cavity, the stem or medium seems to easily fly out upon disassembling the valve, which can cause injuries to human beings. In this way, even if there is fire, packing and thrust bearing are burned or packing is damaged due to other causes, the pressure of medium in valve body will make the dummy club of valve stem in close contact with the upper seal face of valve body, thus to prevent medium leaking out from the damaged packing position;</li>
