<p><b>Principle</b><b>:</b><b> </b></p>
<p>The pressure seal gate valves are designed in accordance with API600 and ASME B16.34 for service of high temperature and high pressure and are widely used in fossil fuel power plant. Compared with bolted bonnet joint valves, it provides absolute reliable sealing of the bonnet joint, so that the pressure seal valves are more compact and rigid as well as maintenance cost-effective at high temperature and high pressure service.</p>
<p>This kind of gate valve is not only characterized as simple structure and reliable usage, but also able to create slight flexible deformation to compensate the deviation of the sealing face angle generated during processing, thus improving the process performance. In addition, at seat and gate disc seal surface are over-lay with iron-base alloy or Co-base alloy or carbide alloy for long duration.</p>

<p><strong>Principle</strong><strong>:</strong><strong> </strong></p>
<p>Double block and bleed capability and automatic relief of excess body pressure are a standard feature of this seat design. The smooth, continuous bore minimizes turbulence within the valve and when in the open position it produces a pressure drop equivalent to a portion of pipe of the same length and diameter. The seat faces are outside the flow stream and therefore protected from the erosive action of the flow. Pigs and scrapers can be run through the valve without damage.</p>

<p>Slab gate valves are full-port valves, which means the hole in the gate is exactly the same size as the pipe. This full port design provides full flow through the valve and low-pressure drop, and it allows for <a href="https://zecovalve.com/understanding-pigging-and-pig-valves-in-industrial-pipelines-zeco-valve-blog.html" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="12" title="pigging" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pigging</a> the line when needed.</p>



<p>The flow characteristics of ZECO slab gate valve with diversion holes are the same as those of the pipeline of the same diameter. <li>ZECO Slab gate valve construction includes spring energized floating seats, which provide positive seating on both sides, regardless of upstream or downstream pressure conditions. The seat seals are spring energized to ensure sealing under low-pressure conditions. When the line pressure increases, the seat-to-gate contact pressure increases accordingly to provide a positive shutoff. Since both seats are individually energized by differential pressure across the seat itself, the valve cavity can be vented when the upstream and/or downstream side is pressurized. Even if the valve is closed in a cold state, the hot elongation of the stem does not overload the sealing surface, and slab gate valves without diversion holes do not require high precision in the closing position of the gate. When the valve is fully open, the bore through is smooth and linear, and the flow resistance coefficient is minimal, peggable, and no pressure loss.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Disadvantages of Slab Gate Valve</h2>



<p>Slab gate valves also have some disadvantages: when the medium pressure is low, the metal sealing surface may not seal completely, instead, when the medium pressure is too high, the highly-frequency opening and closing may make the sealing surface wear too much when there is no medium or lubrication. Another drawback is that a circular gate that moves horizontally on a circular channel controls flow effectively only when it is at 50% of the valve’s closed position.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-a-through-conduit-gate-valve">What is a Through Conduit Gate Valve?</h2>



<p>Through conduit gate valves are isolating valves designed for full closing of the working media flow. They can be used for temperatures up to 200°C. If the gate valves are used for regulating or throttling purposes, the manufacturer does not guarantee the tightness. The gate valves are full-bore piggable valves with a flow resistance coefficient equal to that of the piping. Therefore they are suitable, especially for long-distance pipeline systems.</p>



<p>ZECO through conduit gate valve is a straight pipe valve. The design is ideal to minimize pressure drop and prevent the accumulation of external materials such as mud into the valve chamber. This valve type is widely used in oil and gas transportation and conforms to API 6D standard. ZECO through conduit gate valve is available in three types: with diversion hole, without diversion hole, and with adjustment stricture. The pressure ranges from 150LB to 900LB and the size ranges from 1 inch to 48 inch. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Types of Through Conduit Gate Valve</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Double Block and Bleed (DBB)</h3>



<p>Valves with two seating surfaces in the closed position, block flow from both valve ends and allow the cavity between the seating surface to be vented through a bleed connection provided on the body cavity. In case of both seats are tight, DBB provides draining of the body cavity and reduction of pressure. Hence, it will be possible to monitor the performance of valve seats and provide a safe environment to work on the other side of the line.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Double Isolating Bleed (DIB)</h3>



<p>This will also provide draining of the valve cavity and reduction of pressure. If, however, the pressure at the upstream side is released and the fluid entrapped in the body cavity is enlarged due to thermal changes, draining occurs to the upstream side. This is an important design for the block valves of pipelines. Correct selection has to be made depending on the type of application.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-industrial-gate-valve">What is Industrial Gate Valve?</h2>



<p>Industrial Gate Valves or &#8220;Block Valves&#8221; are the most commonly used valve type in the oil &amp; gas industry. Gate valves are intended for on-off flow control. When fully open, fluid flows through the valve in a straight line, resulting in minimum pressure drop across the valve.</p>



<p>Industrial gate valves are suitable for both above-ground and underground installation and are designed for fully open or fully closed service. They are installed in pipelines as isolating valves and should not be used as control or regulating valve.</p>



<p>These valves can be divided into two main types, namely parallel and wedge-shaped. Parallel industrial gate valves use a flat gate between two parallel seats. The knife gate valve is a popular valve designed this way, with a sharp edge on the bottom of the gate. Wedge-shaped industrial gate valves use two inclined seats and a slightly mismatched inclined gate.</p>



<p>Industrial gate valves used to be a metal seated wedge with the conical wedge design and angular sealing devices needing a depression in the valve bottom to ensure a tight closure. These days resilient seated gate valves have a plain valve bottom that allows for the free passage of sand and pebbles in the valve.</p>



<p>Rising stems are fixed to industrial gate valves and raise or lower as the gate is operated. This is a visual indication of the industrial gate valve’s position and this makes it easier to grease the stem. This type of industrial gate valve is usually only suited to above-ground installations.</p>



<p>Non-rising stems are threaded into the gate itself and take up less vertical space. These valves are suitable for both above-ground and underground installations.</p>



<p>Industrial gate valves are long-lasting and durable and don’t require much maintenance.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Industrial Gate Valve Parts And Components</h2>



<p>The industrial valve is a collective set of smaller parts. There are internal and external parts. While specific valve types contain certain components definitive to that design, all industrial valves share major valve components. This section will discuss the different valve parts.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Body</h3>



<p>The body houses the internal parts of the valve, including the trim. <p>The valve trim refers to the collective valve parts that come in contact with the flow media. These are the disc, the valve seat, and the stem. Take note, some valves may have additional parts, but generally speaking, these three are always present in most valves.</p>



<p>The type of seat and disc, along with the placement of the disc in relation to the seat, determine the valve trim performance. It is also the combination of the disc, seat, and stem that determines the movement and control of the valve.</p>

<li>The disc has alternative names depending on the type of valve. Ball and gate are two other names for the disc. This part can function as a throttle or to stop/permit the flow of media into the valve to the pipes.</li>

<li>Seat

<li>The seat provides a cushion for the disc. Seal rings are its other name. Some types of valves have one seat while others have two or more. The higher the number of seats, the better sealing. Multiport valves have more seats since these have more than one exit. Some seats are integrated into the valve structure. Others are replaceable.</li>
<li>The quality of the valve seat directly affects the effectiveness of leakage prevention. Depending on the requirements like the type of flow media, temperature and pressure gauges, and the like, valves are either elastomer like Teflon or metal.</li>

<li>Stem

<li>The stem is the shaft that connects the disc to the actuator. This part supplies the motion needed to open or close the disc. The opening and closing movements are either linear like the gate or globe valves, or rotational like the butterfly and ball valves.</li>

<li>Bolts
<ul>
<li>Bolts hold one valve part to another, for example, the bonnet to the body. The bolts make the seal tighter.</li>

<li>Actuator
<ul>
<li>The actuator goes by many names such as wheels, levers, and handles. More often than not, the names follow the design of the actuator. Gate and globe valves have manual handwheels as actuators. On the other hand, ball, plug, and butterfly valves have levers that act as actuators. While manual actuators are common, there are circumstances that automation or power is the ideal way to actuate. There are issues with valve location such as being remote. Time does not allow the valves to open quickly via manual methods.</li>
<li>The valve is large and the pressure is too high; manual opening becomes risky.</li>

</li>
<li>Packing
<ul>
<li>This is also called the gasket. Packing functions as a seal between the stem and the bonnet. This plays an important role as the proper installation of the packing increases the life service of the valve.</li>
<li>Installed too loose, the valve leaks. If installed too tight, the valve cannot move. Packing, in other words, reduces damage and increases the sealing capability of the valve. It has five components, namely the gland follower, the gland, the stuffing box, and the backseat.</li>

<li>Yoke

<p>ZECO wedge gate valve is one of the gate valve types. Wedge gate valves are named because the two sealing surfaces resemble wedges in the body. In general, the two wedge gate valve sealing surface and the Angle of the vertical center line of 2 ° 52 &#8216;, 3 &#8217;30 °, 5 °, 8 °, and so on. Wedge gate valves can be divided into rising stem gate valve and non-rising stem gate valve according to the stem structure, and wedge gate valve and double disc gate valve according to the gate structure. ZECO is a professional gate valve manufacturer in China, with nearly 30 years of experience and history in the production of gate valves.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Solid Wedge Gate Valve</h3>



<p>he solid, or single wedge gate valve is the most widely used and the lowest cost used-type in the process industry for oil, gas and air services. The purpose of the wedge shape is to introduce a high supplementary seating load. Solid-Wedge Gate Valve can be installed in any position, suitable for almost all fluids and practical for turbulent flow services.</p>



<p>In some situations, the valve cannot be reopened until the system temperature reheats the valve; this phenomenon is known as “Thermal blinding”. Wedge gate valves can be further described as inside screw or outside screw patterns. Solid wedge gate valves in waterworks industry are popular as Sluice valves.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-flexible-wedge-gate-valve">Flexible Wedge Gate Valve</h3>



<p>The flexible wedge is a one-piece solid disk with a cut around the perimeter. These cuts vary in size, shape, and depth. A shallow, narrow cut on the wedge perimeter gives less flexibility but retains strength. A cast-in recess or deeper and wider cut on the wedge perimeter gives more flexibility but compromises the strength.</p>



<p>This design improves seat alignment and offers better leak tightness. It also improved performance in situations where thermal binding possible. Flexible wedges Gate valves are used in steam systems.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Applications of Wedge Gate Valves</h2>



<p>Suitable for general application as on/off and isolation valves, not recommended for throttling and/or regulating purposes. They have excellent resistance to earthquake, shocks, vibration, pressure &amp; strokes and can be operated soundly between -196°C to 595°C.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-features-of-wedge-gate-valve">Features of Wedge Gate Valve:</h2>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>ZECO wedge gate valve adopts wedge type gate, because the Angle of the gate is wedge type with the vertical center line, it can be closed more and more tightly in the closing process, further ensuring the sealing effect;</li>
<li>ZECO wedge gate valve adopts lifting stem, which can visually see the opening or closing state of the valve from a distance and is easier to judge. The stem and gate are connected by t-groove, and the t-head of the stem is forged as a whole to ensure sufficient connection strength;</li>
<li>ZECO wedge gate valve is designed with a sealed design that allows replacement of the packing when fully open. This design ensures that the packing can be replaced online when it needs to be replaced if the packing is damaged, preventing personnel waste caused by disassembly of the valve;</li>
<li>ZECO wedge gate valve is designed with anti-collision protection on the flange surface when it leaves the factory, which can protect the convex surface connected with the pipe flange during transportation and prevent damage of the valve in collision.</li>
