The difference between electric wafer butterfly valve and electric flange butterfly valve:

The thickness of electric wafer butterfly valve is thinner than that of flange butterfly valve. There are no flanges at both ends of the valve body and only a few guide bolt holes. The valve is connected with the flange at the pipe end through a set of bolts/nuts. It is a place where space is relatively narrow or where pipes are limited. The advantages are easy disassembly, low cost of valves and small occupancy of space, but the disadvantage is that there is a problem with the sealing surface, so two sealing surfaces must be removed.

The electric flange butterfly valve body has flanges at both ends and is connected with pipe flanges. Sealing performance is more reliable than wafer butterfly valve. It is usually used in large caliber or high pressure areas, but the cost is relatively high. Electric clip butterfly valves cost a lot.

However, there are still some matters needing attention in the design.

For example, valve bolts are usually very long. Under the high temperature, bolt expansion may lead to leakage, so it is not suitable for large diameter at high temperature. For example, clamp butterfly valves can not be used at the end of the pipeline, and the downstream needs to be disassembled, because when the downstream flange is removed, the clamp valve will fall off, which must be very short. Factors that determine the structural limits of electric butterfly valve

As one of the components used now, electric butterfly valve is different from the pneumatic butterfly valve, added a lot of electronic components to attain the purpose of fine control. Because a small amount of highly corrosive liquid can lead to failure of electronic components, it can not be widely used. Pay attention to the following two points of the installation of electric butterfly valve 

1. The installation position, height and direction of the inlet and outlet must meet the design requirements. It should be noted that the direction of medium flow should be consistent with the arrow direction marked on the valve body, and the connection should be firm and tight.

2. Visual inspection must be carried out before the installation of the electric butterfly valve. The nameplate of the valve shall comply with the provisions of the current national standard “General Valve Marking” GB 12220. For the valves with working pressure greater than 1.0 MPa and with cut-off effect on the main pipe, we should conduct strength and tightness performance test before installation. During the strength test, the test pressure is 1.5 times of the nominal pressure, and the duration is no less than 5min. The valve shell and packing shall be qualified to confirm whether there is no leakage. During the tightness test, the test pressure is 1.1 times of nominal pressure.

When the electric butterfly valve is required to control the flow, the most important thing is to select the size and type of the butterfly valve correctly so that it can work properly and effectively. The middle line butterfly valve usually requires a short structure length, fast opening and closing speed (1/4 revolution) in throttling, regulating control and mud medium. If low pressure cut-off is required (small differential pressure), we recommend butterfly valve. The butterfly valve can also be used when there are two position adjustments, contraction of ground channels, low noise, cavitation and gasification, a small amount of leakage to the atmosphere, and abrasive medium. When the butterfly valve is used under special working conditions, such as throttling regulation, strict sealing, severe wear, low temperature (deep cold) and other working conditions, it is necessary to use the special butterfly valve with three eccentric or double eccentric designed metal sealing belt adjustment devices.

Structural features of electric butterfly valve

• 1. It still has stable sealing performance under high temperature and high pressure. Its special sealing system can guarantee high sealing performance in all temperature ranges from ultra-low temperature to ultra-high temperature.
• 2. The three-dimensional eccentric sealing system and the optimized design make the valve opening resistance small. The sealing surface of the butterfly plate is a cone-shaped convex one. When the valve is opened, all points on the circumference of the butterfly plate are separated from the sealing ring at the same time, so it is not easy for solids to accumulate on the sealing surface. The valve closing process is completed by the elastic compression of the sealing ring.
• 3. There is no phase jamming between butterfly plate and sealing ring.
• 4. The sealing performance of the valve is not affected by the temperature change.
• 5. The shaft diameter of the valve rod is sealed with graphite pressed seal ring. In conclusion, zero leakage is ensured. Metal seal plus zero leakage before, during and after fire proves that it is intrinsically safe.

• 1. The opening and closing is convenient, quick, labor-saving, low fluid resistance, and can be operated frequently.
