<p>The auto balancing valve can be installed in the water supply pipeline or in the water return pipeline (only one in each loop). For the primary loop side of the thermal station, in order to facilitate balance debugging, it is recommended that the balance valve be installed in the water return pipeline with lower water temperature. The balance valve on the main pipe should be installed after the water supply main pipe pump (downstream of the pump) to prevent cavitation of the pump due to the low pressure before the pump (behind the valve).</p>

<p>Because the balance valve has the function of flow measurement, in order to make the flow through the valve stable and ensure the measurement accuracy, the balance valve should be installed in the straight pipe section as far as possible when conditions permit.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-3-pay-attention-to-the-balance-between-the-new-system-and-the-original-system">3. Pay attention to the balance between the new system and the original system</h2>



<p>When a new system with a balance valve is connected to the original heating (cooling) pipe network, attention must be paid to the balance of water distribution between the new system and the original system, so as to avoid the water resistance of the new system (or the reformed system) with a balance valve being higher than that of the original system and failing to reach the required water flow.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-4-no-need-to-install-stop-valves">4. No need to install <strong><mark style="background-color:var(--base)" class="has-inline-color has-contrast-2-color"><a href="https://zecovalve.com/product/resilient-seated-gate-valve" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stop Valves</a></mark></strong></h2>



<p>When inspecting a loop, the balance valve on the loop can be closed. At this time, the balance valve plays the role of a cut-off valve to cut off water flow. After inspection, the balance valve can return to its original locked position. Therefore, when the balance valve is installed, the stop valve need not be installed again.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-5-when-adding-or-canceling-loops-the-system-should-be-readjusted">5. When adding (or canceling) loops, the system should be readjusted.</h2>



<p>When adding (or canceling) loops in the pipeline network system, except adding (or closing) corresponding balancing valves, in principle all-new balancing valves and balancing valves in the original system loops should be re-adjusted (branch balancing valves in the original loop need not be re-adjusted).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">6. Commissioning</h2>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>It is advisable to flush the system clean. Keep the valve fully open when flushing.</li><li>If a system pressure test is required, the maximum allowed pressure PS may be exceeded by up to a maximum of 24 bar. Pressure tests must be carried out at room temperature and with the valve fully open.</li></ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">7. Measuring &#8211; Pressure &amp; Flow Rate</h2>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Pay close attention during measurement, in case of hot media!</li><li>Pressure test plugs are self-sealing. Unscrew the pressure test plug cap and insert the probe.</li><li>Screw the probe ring nut to the pressure test plug.</li><li>We recommend placing an isolation valve upstream of the probe.</li><li>After measuring, unscrew and extract the probe. Screw the plug cap back on.</li><li>Open the valve fully (complete anti-clockwise rotation).</li><li>Screw the pressure gauge connected to the pressure plugs.</li><li>Turn the hand wheel clockwise observing the pressure gauge connection. The gauge indicator is stable as long as the flow rate does not change.</li><li>Stop turning as soon as the gauge indicator moves (differential pressure increasing).</li><li>Take note of the differential pressure reading on the pressure gauge.</li><li>Calculate the flow rate.</li></ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is a Balancing Valve in HVAC?</h2>



<p>A balancing valve is an automatic valve used in an HVAC system that depends mainly on the flow of water through its system to provide cooling and hearing effects in homes or in offices as the situation may require. In designing balancing valves, updated flow technology is employed to ensure that the required flow rate is achieved every time, regardless of the number of times the pressure level within the system changes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Uses of Balancing Valves in HVAC</h2>



<p>There are different types of balancing valves ( refer to later sections of this article for more details about this), however, all of these varieties are used for three major purposes.</p>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>To ensure that fluids are evenly distributed among the various flow branches.</li><li>To control the intensity of the water temperature of the heating and cooling system to keep them at a moderate level.</li><li>And lastly, they are used as counterbalancing forces for dualized action cylinders.</li></ol>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-a-static-balancing-valve">What is a <strong><mark style="background-color:var(--base)" class="has-inline-color has-contrast-2-color"><a href="https://zecovalve.com/product/balancing-valve" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Static Balancing Valve</a></mark></strong>?</h2>



<p>Static balancing valves are also called manual balancing valves, digital locking balancing valves, butterfly balancing valves, and so on. They change the opening of the valve core and seat to change the flow resistance of the valve in order to achieve the purpose of regulating the flow. Their function is to balance the flow of water according to the designed proportion, increase and decrease the branches at the same time in proportion, and still meet the current climate needs of part of the load flow. Quantity demand plays a role in heat balance.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is a <strong><mark style="background-color:var(--base)" class="has-inline-color has-contrast-2-color"><a href="https://zecovalve.com/product/pressure-independent-control-valve" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dynamic Flow Balance Valve</a></mark></strong>?</h2>



<p>Dynamic flow balance valve is also called pressure independent control valve, self-operated balance valve, constant flow valve, automatic balance valve, PICV, etc. The self-operated flow control valve automatically changes the resistance coefficient according to the change in system working conditions. Within a certain range of pressure differences, it can effectively control the flow through and maintain a constant value. That is when the pressure difference between the front and the back of the valve increases, the flow through the action of small automatic closure of the valve can keep the flow constant. On the contrary, when the pressure difference decreases, the valve opens automatically and the flow remains constant. However, when the pressure difference is smaller or larger than the normal working range of the valve, it can not provide an additional pressure head after all. At this time, the flow of the valve to the fully open or closed position is still lower or higher than the set flow.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Advantages of the PICV</h3>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Easy Selection Pressure Independent Control Valve<ul><li>There is no CV calculation required and after the flow calculation, the appropriate valve can be selected. If the flow is 8.7 GPM the correct selection is a 9.0 GPM valve. Generally, the next bigger valve should be selected. However, an adjustment in the field is always possible considering the adjustable flow range.</li></ul></li><li>Hydronic Balancing Simplified.<ul><li>Pressure Independent Control Valves make circuits independent and they literally decouple circuits or terminals from the system. There is no balancing procedure required and for commissioning, a simple check of ΔT or flow is enough.</li><li>To measure flow, PICVs are available with pressure ports to gauge pressure differential. A valve-specific chart may then be used to locate the matching flow from the gage pressure differential.</li></ul></li><li>Flexible Commissioning<ul><li>Plants can be commissioned in a step-by-step approach. Individual zones can be set up and no rebalancing is required which simplifies adding to the system or remodeling.</li></ul></li><li>One Piece Installation<ul><li>The compact pressure independent valve incorporates the control valve and the balancing valve. Thus, the valve saves 50% of labor costs during installation and investment for the balancing valve. Additionally, about 2/3 of the installation space (pipe length) is saved.</li></ul></li><li>Reduces Pumping Costs<ul><li>The PICV assures that each terminal, depending on its load, obtains the required flow and that overflow can be prevented. Therefore, the total flow will be lower than in systems without pressure-independent valves. The pump head follows a similar behavior and thanks to the automatic dynamic balancing the required pump head is substantially lower.</li></ul></li></ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is a <strong><mark style="background-color:var(--base)" class="has-inline-color has-contrast-2-color"><a href="https://zecovalve.com/product/differential-pressure-control-valve" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Differential Pressure Balancing Valve</a></mark></strong>?</h2>



<p>Differential pressure balancing valve, also known as self-operated differential pressure control valve, differential pressure controller, voltage regulator synchronizer, differential pressure balancing valve, etc. It uses differential pressure to adjust the opening of the valve and uses the change of pressure drop of the valve core to compensate for the change of pipeline resistance, so as to keep the differential pressure basically unchanged when the working condition changes. Its principle is within a certain flow rate range, and it can be effective. Controlling the pressure difference of the controlled system is constant, that is, when the pressure difference of the system increases, it can ensure that the pressure difference of the controlled system increases through the automatic closing action of the valve. On the contrary, when the pressure difference decreases, the valve opens automatically and the pressure difference remains constant.</p>

<p>Static Balance Valve: It is also called Balancing Valve, Manual Balance Valve, Digital Lock Balance Valve, Double Position Regulating Valve, etc. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What does a Static Balancing Valve used for?</h2>



<p>It changes the flow resistance through the valve by changing the clearance (opening) between the spool and the seat to achieve the purpose of regulating the flow rate. Its object of action is the resistance of the system, which can distribute the new water in proportion to the design calculation. Each branch increases or decreases in proportion at the same time, and still meets the flow demand of part of the current load.</p>

<p>Dynamic balancing valve is divided into two kinds: flow (flow dynamic control valve) and pressure difference (self-operated pressure difference control valve), which are selected according to actual demand. Dynamic balancing valve is used to solve the branch differential pressure balance problem caused by the frequent operation of temperature control valves at each end. The difference between static and static is that the static balance valve (also known as digital lock balance valve) needs to be locked after one-time debugging by a special intelligent instrument to control the total water volume of the system within a reasonable range, but every change needs to be re-locked by the instrument. The dynamic self-reliance is not so troublesome, depending on the pipe. The supply (return) pipe with a balance valve does not need to install the stop valve.</p>



<p>Whether static balancing valve or dynamic balancing valve, they are impedance components, especially dynamic balancing valve, which requires the system to consider the additional head caused by the balancing valve when selecting and distributing pumps.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-do-balancing-valves-work">How do balancing valves work?</h2>



<p>Balancing valve is a special function valve. It has good flow characteristics. (If used with clear PVC fittings, it would be more convenient to check the work). Besides, it has valve opening index, opening locking device and pressure measuring valve for flow measurement. By using special intelligent instrument, the flow value flowing through the balance valve can be directly displayed by inputting the valve type and opening value according to the measured pressure difference signal. As long as the balance valve with appropriate specifications is installed in each branch and user&#8217;s entrance and debugged once with the special intelligent instrument, the flow rate of each user can reach the set value.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Static balancing valves </h2>



<p>Static balancing valves are also called balancing valves, manual balancing valves, digital locking balancing valves, double-position regulating valves, etc. What is manual balancing valve function? It is through changing the clearance between the spool and the seat (opening), to change the flow resistance through the valve in order to achieve the purpose of regulating flow. Its object of action is the resistance of the system, which can distribute the new water in proportion to the design calculation, increase and decrease the branches in proportion at the same time, still meet the flow demand of part of the load under the current climate needs, and play the role of heat balance. <p>Dynamic flow balance valve is also called self-operated flow control valve, self-operated balance valve, constant flow valve, automatic balance valve, etc. It automatically changes the drag coefficient according to the change of system working condition (differential pressure). In a certain range of pressure difference, the flow through can be effectively controlled to maintain a constant value, that is, when the pressure difference before and after the valve increases, the flow through the valve can be maintained by the action of automatic closing small. The valve working principle is that in a certain flow range, it can effectively control the constant pressure difference of the controlled system, that is, when the pressure difference of the system increases, it can ensure that the pressure difference of the controlled system increases by automatically closing the valve. When the pressure difference decreases, the valve opens automatically, and the pressure difference remains constant. The self-operated pressure difference control valve has an automatic plug closing state within the control range. The pressure difference between the two ends of the valve exceeds the preset value. The plug opens automatically and adjusts the opening automatically under the action of the pressure sensitive film to keep the pressure difference between the two ends of the valve relatively constant.</p>
