Electric Actuated Ball Valve

What is an Electric Actuated Ball Valve?

Actuated ball valves are rotating ball type pipe valves that come without manual turn handles to allow installation with an actuator. The valves are used together with an actuator device to automate valve opening and closing and therefore control plumbing fluid rates.

How does an Electric Actuated Ball Valve work?

Ball valves use motors to rotate a ball with a hole in the center to control flow. When the hole is in line with the flow, the valve is fully open, and when it is turned perpendicular to the flow, it is closed. Most electric ball valves don’t require power to hold a position like solenoid valves

Specifications of Electric Actuated Ball Valves

  • Sizes
    • All actuated ball valve series have size ranges from 1/2” to 48” fitting diameters. Complete valve pipe sizes include: 1/2″, 3/4″, 1”, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 2”, 2-1/2″, 3”, 4”, and 6”. Extra sizes, larger, and non-standard type actuator valves can be fabricated on request.
  • Connections
    • Actuator valve connection types are flange, threaded, socket, or socket with thread. The valves feature an integrated foot pad that allows versatile installation such as on skids or panels. Actuated ball valves come in single True Union or 3 Way True Union style that provides secure plumbing joints. 3 Way True Union types come in a lateral or vertical arrangement.
  • Seals
    • All actuated valves come with FPM rubber gasket seals that provide high chemical and mechanical resistance. EPDM rubber-type o-rings are available for scenarios where FPM may not be compatible. Double o-ring FPM Viton gasket stem seals are standard. Valves feature reversible valve seats manufactured from high durability PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene; Teflon™).

Electric Actuated Ball Valve Types

Electrically actuated 2-way ball valves are a simple solution for many basic on/off applications. They rotate 90 degrees (quarter-turn) from fully open to fully closed. While they typically operate more slowly than valves with an air-operated pneumatic actuator, it is often the case that electricity is available and compressed air is not. Electric ball valves come in many different materials that are listed below.

Applications of Electric Actuated Ball Valves

Water treatment, water features, fountains, aquariums, landfills, swimming pools, power plants, mining, transportation, chemical processing
