Can Butterfly Valves Throttling?
Butterfly valves are another common type. They have a disc that pivots at right angles to the flow path and seals against seats in the valve body when fully opened. Butterfly valves have excellent throttling characteristics. They can respond to both pressures and flow so that the flow response is linear. Butterfly valves are also compact and easy to use and have high rangeability. In addition to throttling, they have good rangeability.
Among the most common valves, the butterfly valve is the most suitable for throttling. A full quarter turn can open or close the valve. For throttling to happen, it only needs to open a bit for the media to pass.
Unlike gate valves, butterfly valves can be used for throttling or regulating flow as well as in the fully open and fully closed positions. The pressure loss through a butterfly valve is small in comparison with the gate valve. They are generally used for handling large flows of gases or liquids, including slurries, but should not be used for throttling for extended periods of time.
What is Throttling Butterfly Valve?
The throttling butterfly valves are valves to regulate medium flow rate, which can flow both ways. The throttling butterfly valves aren’t closing valves. A working temperature is from -40 °C up to +400 °C and depends on the body and gland packing material.
Installation of Throttling Butterfly Valve
The throttling butterfly valves can be mounted into the horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipelines with the horizontal rotating ax of the disc. When there is a butterfly valve with an electric actuator it is important to abide by the actuator’s manufacturer.
What is Flowseal Butterfly Valve?
Flowseal is a leading provider of soft seats, metal seats, and fire-safe high-performance butterfly valves. Flowseal products are manufactured under an ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Program that assures each valve that is produced meets or exceeds your application requirements.
High Performance Butterfly Valves (HPBF) are a standard in many industries including heating, ventilating and air conditioning, power generation, hydrocarbon processing, and water and wastewater treatment. The key features of HPBV are high performance shutoff and modulating service for standard industrial process lines, materials of construction options include carbon and stainless steel, sizes up to 48”, both wafer and lugged body styles available, in pressures classes 150 – 600.
