What is a Wafer Dual Plate Check Valve?
The dual plate check valve is an all-purpose non-return valve that is much stronger, lighter in weight, and smaller in size compared to a conventional swing check valve or lift check valve.
The dual plate check valve employs two spring-loaded plates hinged on a central hinge pin. When the flow decreases, the plates close by torsion spring action without requiring reverse flow.
The structure of ZECO wafer dual plate check valve is that the disc is along the pin at the center position of the body to swing, short structure dimensions, and small volume. Light in weight, good process performance, quickly open and close. Small water-hammer pressure, shorter travel, small closed-impact pressure, In the horizontal or vertical pipe can be used, even easy installation. The internal design of ZECO wafer dual plate check valve minimizes the water hammer problem, it can also significantly improve the flow efficiency which is important for large size piping system. For larger O.D. piping systems, 36” and above, the dual-plate design is recommended and preferred. The wafer dual plate check valve design should also be considered for smaller O.D. piping systems where swing check valves have demonstrated flow-related problems. ZECO dual plate check valve has a short face-to-face dimension and the weight is only about 25% that of a comparable size swing check valve.

Features of Wafer Dual Plate Check Valve
- ZECO wafer dual plate check valve bodies are a one-piece and short cylinder design with no holes through the body wall, there is no need for external pins or plugs, and no leakage toward the outside. For critical service applications, such as hazardous or poisonous medium, this is a superior choice to minimize unwanted leakage to the atmosphere;
- Two high torsion springs of ZECO wafer dual plate check valve ensure valve closure as quickly as possible, and reduces water hammer, so as to extend valve life and improve system performance;
- A body slot of ZECO wafer dual plate check valve with carefully calculated clearance is designed to fit the hinge pin and allows the hinge pin to move in the only direction of flow. The design eliminates the possibility of friction caused by the heel of the dual plate;
- The integral cast bumper on the back of the dual plate is an effective design to prevent frequent hitting and reduces the pressing from the dual plate against the stop pin when the valve is fully opened, This extends the service life of the valve and minimizes maintenance cost.
