Air Vent Valve

Air Vent Valve for heating systems and radiators

What is an Air Vent Valve?

An air vent valve is a safety device that discharges air at the water supply piping in order to avoid air related problems in the water piping systems.

How does an Air Vent Valve work?

When liquid is pumped through the system at startup, the initial air inside the piping is pushed into the air vent by the pressure of the flow. The float remains in the lower part of the air vent, allowing the valve to remain open and continuously discharge air.

After the initial air venting, liquid flows into the air vent. The float rises with the rising liquid and closes the valve.

If air enters the air vent while it is closed, the liquid level drops and the float lowers, allowing the valve to open and discharge air once more.

Coustruction Details of Air Vent Valves

Stainless steel components

The components used for the elimination of air like float, sliding guide zones, spring and mechanism stem are made of stainless steel. In this way they minimize the friction and ensure maximum reliability.

Protection device

The venting air is passed through a forced passage and a filter with a thin mesh strainer. This arrangement avoids the danger of leakage due to debris.

High venting capacity

The size of this deaerator makes it suitable for applications on large pipes, particularly on horizontal sections (distribution manifolds in central boilers applications) or wherever it is required to release large quantities of air from the system.

Operating mechanism

The air is vented by means of a stem mechanism protected against debris from outside.

Chamber

The height of the chamber for float movement is designed to collect high air volumes from water.

Hygroscopic cap

A safety hygroscopic cap automatically closes the air discharge in case of contact with water.

What are Air Vent Valves used for?

Air Vent Valves are designed for use on heating systems. Our line includes products such as high-capacity air vent valves that provide automatic air venting for hot or cold water distribution systems and models with a manual vent feature for fast venting of residential and commercial systems.

Advantages of Air Vent Valves

  • Removes inevitable potentially dangerous air trapped in system
  • Simplifies the venting process
  • Saves time and costs
  • WRAS approved for closed circuit use only
  • A shut-off valve option is available in size 1/2 inch
  • Conforms to design standard BS EN 1074-4
