Gate valve and butterfly valve are used to open and close the flow in the pipeline. Of course, there are methods in the selection of butterfly valves and gate valves.
How to choose gate valves and butterfly valves?
In order to reduce the depth of soil in the water supply pipe network, butterfly valves are usually selected for larger diameter pipes. If it has little effect on the depth of soil cover, try to choose a gate valve. However, the price of a gate valve of the same specification is higher than that of a butterfly valve. As for the boundary of the caliber, each locality should consider it on a case-by-case basis. In terms of use in the past ten years, butterfly valves have higher failures than gate valves, so it is worth paying attention to expanding the use of gate valves when conditions permit.
This kind of gate valve has the following characteristics compared with the traditional wedge gate valve or parallel double gate valve:
- A. The valve body and bonnet of the resilient gate valve are cast by precision casting and formed in one shot. It basically does not machine, does not use sealed copper rings, and saves non-ferrous metals.
- B. There is no pit at the bottom of the soft-sealed gate valve, no slag is accumulated, and the failure rate of the gate valve is low.
- C. The size of the soft seal rubber-lined valve plate is uniform and interchangeable.
Therefore, resilient gate valves will be a form that the water supply industry is willing to adopt. At present, the diameter of resilient gate valve manufactured in China reaches 1500mm, but the diameter of most manufacturers is between 80-300mm. There are still many problems in the domestic manufacturing process. It is reported that the valve body of a valve manufacturer in Shanghai was commissioned by a domestic foundry to use resin sand molding to recast, and the soft seal valve plate was imported from a foreign company. The company believes that the key component of soft-sealed gate valves is rubber-lined valve plates, which have high technical requirements and are not accessible to all manufacturers abroad. They are often purchased and assembled from reliable manufacturers.
The copper nut block of the domestic soft seal gate valve is embedded above the rubber-lined valve plate, similar to the structure of the gate valve. Due to the movable friction of the nut block, the rubber of the valve plate is easily peeled off. The copper nut block of a resilient gate valve of a foreign company is embedded in the rubber-lined gate plate to form a whole, which overcomes the above disadvantages, but the concentricity of the valve cover and the valve body is required to be higher.
However, when opening and closing the soft-sealed gate valve, it should never be closed tightly. As long as the water-stopping effect is achieved, otherwise it is not easy to open or peel the rubber.
