GET ERW PIPE MEANING INFORMATION
ERW is the abbreviation of Electric Resistance Welding. Chinese means resistance welding. The ERW pipe often referred to in the steel pipe industry refers to electric resistance welded pipe. The ERW welded pipe production line can produce high-frequency resistance longitudinal welded pipes, square pipes, rectangular pipes, steel sheet piles, and other products.

Electric resistance welded steel pipes are divided into two types: AC welded steel pipe and DC welded steel pipe. AC welding is divided into low-frequency welding, intermediate-frequency welding, super intermediate-frequency welding, and high-frequency welding according to the different frequencies. High-frequency welding is mainly used for the production of thin-walled steel pipes or ordinary thick-walled steel pipes. High-frequency welding is divided into contact welding and induction welding. DC welding is generally used for small-diameter steel pipes. Generally speaking, the high-frequency welded pipe is included in the ERW welded pipe, which is a kind of ERW welded pipe produced by the high-frequency welding process. ERW longitudinal welded pipe is a steel pipe with advanced performance, leading quality, and a relatively economical product in the field of oil and gas storage and transportation.
Seamless Steel Pipe is made from a solid round steel ‘billet’ which is heated and pushed or pulled over a form until the steel is shaped into a hollow tube. Billets are procured both from indigenous suppliers and from abroad. Major Indigenous suppliers are JSPL, JSW & Kalyani, and steel round billets are imported from renowned mills in Europe, Far East countries, Canada, and China.
To Manufacture ERW Stainless Steel Pipes HR Coils are required. Major Indigenous suppliers of these HR Coils are SAIL, Essar, JSW, Lloyds, etc
Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) pipe is manufactured by rolling metal and then welding it longitudinally across its length. Seamless pipe is manufactured by extruding the metal to the desired length; therefore ERW pipe has a welded joint in its cross-section, while seamless pipe does not have any joint in its cross-section throughout its length.
In Seamless pipe, there are no welding or joints, and is manufactured from solid round billets. The seamless pipe is finished to dimensional and wall thickness specifications in sizes from 1/8 inch to 26 inch OD. Applicable for High-pressure applications such as Hydrocarbon Industries & Refineries, Oil & Gas Exploration & Drilling, Oil & Gas Transportation, and Air and Hydraulic cylinders, Bearings, Boilers, Automobiles
etc.
ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) pipes are welded longitudinally, manufactured from Strip / Coil, and can be manufactured up to 24” OD. ERW pipe cold formed from a ribbon of steel pulled through a series of rollers and formed into a tube which is fused through an electric charge. It is mainly used for low/ medium pressure applications such as the transportation of water/oil. Pearlites steel is one of the leading ERW Stainless Steel Pipes Manufacturers and exporters from India. Contact us for product details.
Common sizes for ERW Steel Pipe range from 2 3/8 inch OD to 24 inch OD in a variety of lengths to over 100 feet. Surface finishes are available in bare and coated formats and processing can be handled on-site to customer specifications.
Differences in Seamless Pipe Production Processes | Seamless pipes are suppliers using different procedures, depending on the diameter or the ratio of diameter to wall thickness. |
Seamless Pipe Raw Material Difference | billet |
Seamless Pipe outside diameters Difference | Up to NB 100 and a diameter/wall thickness ratio of 5 : 1 or smaller (e. g. 50: 10, 50: 20, etc.), for sizes larger than NB 100 normally 8 : 1 or smaller (e. g. 200: 25, 200: 30, etc.). |
Differences in Welded Pipe Production Processes | Welded pipes or ERW Pipes are suppliers from individual steel plates or coils |
Welded Pipe Raw Material Difference | Sheets, Plates, coils, hot rolled coil |
Tolerances Difference | 12.5 %, hot rolled seamless pipes, ASTM A999 or EN ISO 1127 T2 |
Seamless pipe length Difference | 13 m Pipe up to NB 100 4 m Pipe up to NB 200 |
Welded pipe length Difference | up to 12 m or 18 m without circumferential welds |
What difference between Seamless or ERW Pipe | A53, Type S means seamless. Type F is furnace but welded, Type E is Electrical resist welded. |
Difference between seamless and non-seamless pipe-supplying process | Seamless steel pipe can be produced one time in the rolling process. Welded steel pipe is supplied with steel strips or steel plate, through bending and different welding processes |
Cost & Price difference between seamless and welded (ERW) Pipe | Welded pipes are always cheaper compared to Seamless Pipes. |
